The Serie A Femminile is still three weeks away and the Rossonere have been keeping themselves busy in the meanwhile.
Milan won the first game of The Women’s Cup by a score of 2-0. The team defeated América de Cali with goals by Greta Adami and Christy Grimshaw.
After the game, new signings, Gloria Marinelli and Valentina Ceronia spoke of wearing the Rossonere colours for the first time (courtesy of MilanPress and PianetaMilan).
Marinelli: “You can’t even imagine how anxious I was before the game, because it was first with the new colors [of my new team]. I was happy, but I entered the field in a carefree manner, with the desire to have fun and fortunately, it went well. For several weeks we have been training with intensity and training quite well in my opinion. Obviously friendly games are done to gain fitness and also gain confidence, [and to] get to know each other [teammates], but I must say that it was a good test.”
Cernoia: “Making my debut with my new companions brings a sense of mixed emotions. It was a debut that I was waiting for because it has been quite a while since the day I was presented as a Milan player. I had a great experience between then, and today I am happy to have played the first few minutes with my teammates.”

AC Milan’s Allyson Swaby was recently interviewed on The RE—INC show, which is hosted by American footballers Christen Press and Tobin Heath.
She is also the second Milan player to appear on the show, after Kosovare Asllani appeared on the program not too long ago.
During the interview, Swaby talked about her World Cup experience and how she and the other Jamaican players have fought with their federation, the JFF, for equality.
The Jamaican Women’s situation with their federation has been quite dire, as the team had to resort to fundraising just to participate in the tournament.
They wouldn’t have had to do this if their federation had actually given the money they need to compete in the competition.
Press went on to praise Swaby for her efforts and her continuous campaign to improve the conditions of the Jamaican players. She even spoke of their actions having a worldwide impact, as the Reggae Girlz battles with the JFF is one of many struggles by women’s footballers around the globe.
There were no mentions of Milan during this interview, however, as Swaby has yet to be unveiled as a player for the club. However, expect the team to unveil the defender as their newest signing within the upcoming days.
