Adli warns Milan about Rennes after previous meeting: “I lost 6-0”

By Ben Dixon -

Following AC Milan’s victory against Napoli, Yacine Adli spoke about the importance of the result, a potential return to the levels expected of the Rossoneri, and the upcoming fixture against Stade Rennais.

There is no doubt about the significance of the result on Sunday. Given the noise that surrounds the squad, and the feeling of disappointment regarding success this season, this victory against the Neapolitan outfit is huge.

Milan have finally broken the home curse that has seen the Rossoneri not win against Napoli at the San Siro since the 2014-15 season, and now sit 13 points clear of fifth-placed Bologna and 17 points clear of the weekend’s visitors.

In the buildup to the match, it was reported that Stefano Pioli and his squad were taking things one game at a time, and with this weekend’s Serie A clash in the past, the focus is now on Rennes.

Adli spoke to SportMediaSet about the victory against Napoli and his previous encounter with the French side – Pianeta Milan has relaid his words.

Are Milan returning to the high levels?

“I don’t know if we are returning, but we are more concrete, and we create more chances. In the last matches, we had some difficulties at the defensive level, and we wanted to do better in this aspect against Napoli. The clean sheet will do us good”.

The importance of the victory against Napoli…

“It’s important for the confidence of the whole team. Not having conceded goals is good for everyone.”

Milan’s placement in the Serie A table…

“We only have to think about Rennes. We want to win. For now, we put the league on hold and think about Europe. We want to play a great game against Rennes.”

Thinking ahead to Rennes…

“I met them two years ago. At their home, I lost 6-0, so I know they are a team with quality. We want to play a great game and advance in the Europa League.”
