AC Milan have reached an agreement with AZ Alkmaar for the transfer of Tijjani Reijnders, with the Dutchman expected to undergo his medical on Tuesday. A very important signing, as Massimo Ambrosini describes it.
The negotiations were long and tough but the Rossoneri eventually reached an agreement with the Dutch side at €20m plus bonuses. A good deal given how important Reijnders was this past season, scoring 7 goals and assisting an additional 12.
The 24-year-old also completed more dribbles than any other central midfielder in the Eredivisie. Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited by MilanNews, Milan legend Massimo Ambrosini shared his thoughts on the signing.
“He will be Pioli’s deep-lying midfielder. He’s not a classic deep-lying midfielder, like Jorginho. Instead, he’s dynamic and aggressive, just like Milan. The Rossoneri will press their opponents even more.
“Reijnders can also score goals, which is very important. Milan are missing goals from their midfielder: the gap with Napoli in Serie A and Inter in the Champions League was also evidenced by that,” he stated.
As mentioned, Reijnders is expected to arrive in Milano for his medical on Monday/Tuesday morning and he will then sign his contract with the club. He should earn €1.6m per year and there will also be a sign-on bonus.
