Official: AC Milan Women sack coach Maurizio Ganz and announce replacement

AC Milan Women have announced the sacking of head coach Maurizio Ganz and also confirmed who will take over his duties for the rest of the season.

In an official statement, Milan confirmed that Ganz has been relieved of his duties after almost five seasons in charge of the team.

He was one of the mainstays in Serie A Femminile but the style of play and results have gently declined over the past two-three seasons and the situation has now reached a breaking point.

In the statement, Milan said: “AC Milan announces that it has sacked Maurizio Ganz as coach of the women’s first team. Our heartfelt thanks go to Maurizio for the activity carried out in these almost five seasons of working together, for his commitment, seriousness and professional correctness.”

It was also confirmed that Ganz’s role will be taken by Davide Corti, who was previously the coach of Milan Women’s Primavera side.

Milan have a squad that should be challenging near the top of the Serie A Femminile table but after eight games of the 2023/24 season, they sit in sixth place with just nine points, 15 away from AS Roma at the summit.
