CM: Milan make decision on Giroud and schedule meeting for May – the latest

Olivier Giroud has been a very important player for AC Milan this season and as his contract will expire in the summer, rumours have naturally emerged regarding his future. According to a report, the Rossoneri are keen on a renewal.

The Frenchman, at the age of 37, has impressed with 12 goals and 9 assists in all competitions this season. As reported by Calciomercato.com, Milan has agreed to postpone any renewal talks until the end of the season, when a meeting will take place between the parties.

However, the Rossoneri’s idea is to continue with Giroud for another season, while also renegotiating the contract terms. The current salary is €3.5m per year and given that the Growth Decree has been scrapped, a renewal at the same figures will be very costly.

The striker, meanwhile, has received some offers and is tempted to embark on a final adventure in his career. The MLS appears to be the most concrete option, but there could still be some surprises between now and the end of the season.

In any case, Giroud is currently focused on the Scudetto and helping Milan reach the Europa League final, seeing as the Rossoneri have never lifted that trophy before. It is too early to speak of next season, therefore, but Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada at least appear keen on keeping him.
