As part of a new collaboration, the well-known journalist and insider Pietro Balzano Prota has provided a bulletin for us with some considerations on the past, present and future.
The winter transfer window shut with the additions of Matteo Gabbia and Filippo Terracciano, both of which happened well before what many expected to be a busy finale.
In the meantime, Milan are drifting towards a potentially forgettable season barring a miraculous run in Serie A or somehow hoisting the Europa League trophy in Dublin.
This is something that will not be lost on the management and the ownership, which in turn could cause profound reflections on the project moving forward.
Pietro Balzano Prota – better known to many as PBPCalcio – has given us his thoughts on last month’s business, as well as how the future of Milan is shaping up.
“The winter transfer window for Milan ends with the return of Gabbia and the arrival of Terracciano for €4.5m plus bonuses,” he said.
“A parenthesis on Terracciano: despite his performance off the bench against Bologna, I consider him to be a very interesting prospect for the future. He is not a ready player, but one to develop.
“Romero, Krunic, Pellegrino and Chaka Traore left, and Gabbia and Terracciano arrived. My opinion? Without vote.
“The fans expect more, like Pioli himself. But like it or not Milan had already done their business at the beginning of the season.
“My feeling – and I repeat feeling – was that ultimately we didn’t want to exaggerate what perhaps, on a coaching level, could be a cycle that will end at the end of the season.
“The real changes will come at the end of the season. I can confirm the great interest in Joshua Zirkzee for whom there have already been contacts, as well as the appreciation for Sesko and the desire to make a move in attack.
“But everything will depend on the choice of the new coach. Probably in March/April the cards on Milan’s future will begin to be revealed from many points of view, including the bench.
“Will it be the name that all the fans want despite the denials that arrive, that of Antonio Conte? or Thiago Motta? or a surprise name?
“From this choice you will certainly have a broader vision of the Rossoneri’s transfer strategies for next season. Now all that remains is to focus on the current season.”
