AC Milan’s game against Udinese was marred by disgraceful scenes in the first half as Mike Maignan was subjected to racial abuse from a section of the home fans.
Shortly after Milan went 1-0 up, Maignan alerted his team-mates and the referee to the abuse he was getting from fans behind the goal. It seems a warning had already been broadcast over the PA system, leaving the Rossoneri players with no choice but to go off the pitch.
Maignan was visibly upset and angry by what happened, and understandably so, though they did come back out onto the field after a few minutes off.
There were then FIGC representatives stood behind Maignan’s goal and recording to see if there was evidence of further racist abuse, as per Football Italia, while they continued to boo his every touch.
