AC Milan are interested in signing Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal but they have already encountered resistance ahead of the January transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Milan’s defensive situation is a dire one given that at the moment Fikayo Tomori is the only fit senior options. Malick Thiaw, Marco Pellegrino and Pierre Kalulu will miss the rest of the calendar year, while Simon Kjaer has been sidelined for some time with a muscle issue.
A number of different targets have been linked as the management look to bolster the options in the rearguard and one of them is Kiwior, who is not an established starter at Arsenal and knows Serie A well having joined them in January after 18 months at Spezia.
Fabrizio Romano has given us an update regarding Milan’s pursuit of the Poland international, confirming that there is interest but that at the moment it seems a difficult deal to do.
“AC Milan will sign a new centre back for sure and Kiwior is one of the names in the list. The point is that Arsenal are currently not keen on letting him go on loan; Milan can only proceed with loan deal. That’s why they are now considering other targets,” he said.
The other names that have been linked by various sources include Benoit Badiashile of Chelsea, Lloyd Kelly of Bournemouth and also the hypothesis of terminating Matteo Gabbia’s loan spell at Villarreal early.
