UEFA: San Siro potential host stadium for 2026 or 2027 Champions League final

San Siro is one of the stadiums that could host either the 2026 or 2027 final of the UEFA Champions League after declaring interest.

As confirmed by UEFA (via Milan News), the homes stadium of AC Milan and Inter could see a Champions League final in the near future.

Nine member associations have declared their interest to host UEFA club competition finals in 2026 and 2027. They are not binding and final proposals.

Any actual proposals have to be submitted to UEFA by February 21, 2024. Italy has expressed interest specifically for the Champions League final, and the only rival right now is the Puskas Arena in Budapest.

Interest from Germany, Norway and Scotland has come in for the final of the Women’s Champions League, whilst Germany and Romania have expressed interest in the Europa League finals.

It is another sign of the entire footballing world in Italy working on the basis that the San Siro will still be standing and functional in a few years’ time, despite Milan and Inter’s efforts to create change.
