Carlo Pellegatti believes that the time has come for AC Milan to bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic back to the club in some capacity, but there are difficulties to overcome.
Milan have encountered their first tough patch of the season having lost 1-0 to Juventus at the weekend and 3-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The difficulties have reignited some of the uncertainties that the Rossoneri faced heading into the season and a solution must be found in view of the game against Napoli on Sunday.
A third defeat in a row would spark a lot of discontent among the Milan fans, and Carlo Pellegatti – speaking to Radio Rossonera – believes that there is a need to bring Ibrahimovic back to Milanello.
“No, there really wasn’t anything positive yesterday [the PSG game], because I don’t see what positive thing could be found yesterday,” he said.
“Everywhere I turn, I see Milan’s problems. Up until now, the market hasn’t given everything we wanted due to injuries and the forwards. Pioli was criticised for the 1 vs. 1 situations, I’m not criticising him, but Capello and Calabria said it.
“There is the usual discussion of injuries and staff who are also in the eye of the storm. There were some problems related to tactics which were a bit lacking. Yesterday there was absolutely nothing to save and it was a bad blow.
“I don’t read anything in Calabria’s words. It is clear that they need to be interpreted and one could say that it is the thought of many or perhaps it is a warning to some comrades who do not see it being applied as it should be, but I go further.
“Now it’s late, we need Zlatan Ibrahimovic and it’s already late. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but be careful, don’t be silly. This is help to Pioli, who cannot do everything, coaches are not confessors.
“Fabio Capello had Italo Galbiati who went to understand in depth what was wrong, what the problems were and then reported back to him. We need a figure who goes into the details of things, who has an exchange of opinions with the coach also on a tactical level.
“The coach is happy to talk about it and Giorgio Furlani himself is new to these problems with the team and in contact with the players. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the ideal figure right now.
“We put him as Gerry Cardinale’s personal consultant and frontman for the team. Full power, after consulting with Cardinale and Giorgio Furlani, on what happens at Milanello together with the coach.
“Yesterday a very authoritative colleague who knows the ins and outs told me that there is an economic problem to be solved and we need to intervene and go to him, finding the convincing words of a Gerry Cardinale: a great owner and a great entrepreneur.
“A phone call from Pioli, perhaps, and I find something that is intelligent with everyone rowing. Pioli is happy, because he gets rid of 1000 problems. At the moment, having this resource that other teams don’t have, I would exploit it.”
