Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has praised the work of AC Milan and Stefano Pioli for discovering Charles De Ketelaere and taking the decision to loan him to La Dea.
Speaking during an interview with Sky Sport Italia (via Pianeta Milan), the coach was asked about the positive form of De Ketelaere, who is having a really good season on loan at Atalanta.
The Belgian scored during Atalanta’s 2-0 win over Udinese on Saturday. That goal took his Serie A tally for the season to three, and he has also got six assists to his name. He has scored two Europa League goals in four games, another two goals in the Coppa Italia and got a cup assist.
Considering just how much De Ketelaere struggled to make an impact at Milan when he signed from Club Brugge, it is very impressive that he has grasped the opportunity given to him at Atalanta.
La Dea have an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season and they are expected to do so.
Gasperini certainly seems happy with the player and he praised Milan and Pioli for their work with him last season when he first moved to Italy.
“Milan deserves credit for having invested in him, then it’s not easy the first year for someone who comes from abroad and is so young. I also took advantage of the work of Milan and Pioli. We are satisfied and I think today he played the most important game since he has been here,” Gasperini said.
