The fact that AC Milan are pursuing Alessandro Buongiorno has been well documented, but Torino president Urbano Cairo has raised a wall again.
This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) relays the words of Cairo who was asked once again about the possibility that Buongiorno could saw the Granata for the Rossoneri in the final fortnight of the window.
“I said it last week at the end of the League Assembly and I can only repeat it: he is not for sale. In August, when he expressed his intention to stay with us instead of going to Atalanta, I told him: ‘You are and will be very important to us’. Now I repeat the same thing even more firmly,” he said.
The newspaper added that the offer presented by Milan was €15m plus Lorenzo Colombo as a counterpart and they even expressed a willingness to raise the cash sum to €20m, but that is not deemed enough.
Furthermore, Torino are four points from the Europa League places and six from the Champions League spots, so they do not want to weaken the team with such big targets in mind.
In the summer things could be different, but for now both Torino and Buongiorno have no intention of going their separate ways, also because Perr Schuurs will be out until the end of the season.
As it stands, if Tuttosport are to be believed, Milan will have to evaluate one of the alternative targets that they have on their list.
