Romero’s grandfather confirms contact between Milan and Boca Juniors and other clubs

The grandfather of AC Milan youngster Luka Romero has confirmed that there has been interest in the player from Boca Juniors, as well as clubs in Italy and Spain.

Speaking on Argentinian radio station Radio La Red (via Milan News), Jorge Santos spoke about his grandson and the various clubs that have been showing interest in a loan move for him.

His lack of involvement so far for Milan could lead to a regression in his abilities, so Como have offered him regular football at the top of Serie B.

They are certainly not the only club in the frame, though. Santos explained that whilst there are lots of Italian teams showing interest, Romero is not keen on playing for another club within Italy. He also would only go back to Spain for a top-flight team.

“There are several Italian clubs interested in him, but he doesn’t want to go; if he is in Spain, it must be a first-division team,” Santos said.

It seems that there could be a place in Argentina for him instead, with Boca Juniors said to have been in talks with Milan. This is a more attractive proposition for the young attacker.

“There is already contact between Boca and Milan, they will share the contract,” he said.

“He really likes Argentina and has a good relationship with the national team. Luka has already given the green light to Boca, if they resolve the conditions, he will certainly become a Xeneize player.”

Talking about the quality of the player overall, Santos made the brave move of mentioning both Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona.

“He has a very powerful style, he has something of the best players, the ability to get past an opponent, he is strong. He has elements of Messi and Maradona, and every time he dribbles he has great vision,” he said.
