CorSport: Door creaks open in Milan’s pursuit of Arsenal defender

AC Milan are continuing to search for a centre-back that can arrive and bolster the numbers available, and they are not giving up on signing Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal.

This morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) talks about the plans of the Milan management and confirms they are looking for a new defender, with three names above all currently standing out.

One of them is Trevoh Chalobah of Chelsea, another is Lilian Brassier of Brest and the third is Kiwior of Arsenal, a player that the scouts know well given his time in Serie A with Spezia before his move to London.

Kiwior has played 711 minutes in total so far this season, distributed across 16 appearances in the Premier League, the League Cup and the FA Cup, an average of 44 minutes per game which is not enough.

Milan would like to sign him on loan but the paper claims Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is not very convinced about the idea of letting him leave, having invested €25m exactly one year ago (it was January 23, 2023) to get him from Spezia.

Kiwior was a target for the Rossoneri when he was with the Ligurian team, but then Spezia opted for the sale of their jewel abroad as Arsenal guaranteed a greater financial outlay.

The Kiwior-Milan operation, according to the Roman newspaper, could be unblocked in the final hours of the transfer window.
