Tiemoue Bakayoko has opened up about the ‘difficult’ last season at AC Milan in which he made just three short appearances. The midfielder, who recently joined Lorient, admitted that it didn’t go according to plan.
Bakayoko’s two-year loan spell at Milan came to an end in the summer and the Rossoneri management were delighted to get him off the wage bill. Chelsea seemingly felt the same, letting him go on a free transfer to Lorient.
In an interview with L’Equipe, the midfielder opened up about the ‘difficult’ last season at Milan. He made it clear that he wants to put the past behind him, finding his way to the impressive form of his Monaco days.
“Last year, I didn’t get the playing time I wanted. There are lots of factors that come into play. I don’t have much to say about why I didn’t play. The coach (Stefano Pioli, editor’s note) made his choices. There was a lot of disappointment, that’s for sure.
“A footballer’s career is full of ups and downs. I took it like that and tried to be as serious as possible in training, or when I could be called upon, even if it wasn’t often. It’s been a really difficult season, but I really want to put it behind me and focus on the present,” he stated.
As said, Milan were happy to get him off the wage bill and it’s safe to say that the two-year loan was a poor business decision. Hopefully, the Rossoneri won’t have any similar cases in the coming years.
Dude was actually decent when he came on. It was just that we no longer required his services and had to stick out the loan period. If we played him too much we’d have to buy him. Sucks for both parties
yeah had he played what equated to 7.5 serie a matches we would have been forced to buy him for roughly 20 mil and that really should explain his ordeals to anyone.
Only Gattuso knew how to bring out the best in him, I can’t say same for the other coaches we’ve had.
I give 0 shits about this guy’s feelings. Makes millions doing nothing. Excessively privileged and I don’t feel bad. Ciao.
