Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernandez has said that it is ‘incredible to play in a World Cup with his brother, AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez.
Speaking during a press conference on Friday as part of the French setup (via Milan News), Hernandez spoke with pride about appearing in the tournament in Qatar with the Rossoneri star.
The two French stars have both been called up by Didier Deschamps for the 2022 World Cup and it seems that the coach is going to make them compete for the left-back position in the team.
Lucas is more commonly used as part of a back three but injuries have made Deschamps switch to a four-man defence for this tournament. That suggests that the Hernande brothers will be battling in training to start games and may not get to be on the pitch together.
Regardless of the competition between the duo, the Bayern Munich defender spoke with pride about the situation.
“Most recently I have been playing central, but I also feel very comfortable on the left. You can rest assured, I will give it my all,” he said.
“To be able to play a World Cup with my brother is incredible, it makes me proud. I still can’t believe it, we’ll be together in Qatar and we’ll have fun. I would be proud to play, but I would be even happier if it were up to him.”
Deschamps plays
