Ahead of tonight’s clash between AC Milan and Bologna, Davide Calabria spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on the Rossoneri’s recent form. He also commented on the incidents at Udinese last week, when Mike Maignan was racially abused.
Milan could make it five consecutive wins in the league today, as well as seven games unbeaten, but will face tough opposition as Bologna have made the trip to San Siro. A good display will thus be needed from Stefano Pioli’s men tonight.
Speaking to MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, Calabria shared his thoughts on the positive form that Milan have experienced lately. In addition to previewing the Bologna clash, he also briefly commented on the racial abuse that Mike Maignan was the victim of against Udinese.
The mood after the latest wins…
“Winning helps you win more, we are doing well and we want to continue like this. We know that it’s never easy and we aren’t taking anything for granted. Tonight, the important thing is to do well to extend the positive streak of results.”
On the Maignan abuse vs. Udinese…
“It’s true, another bad page in the history of sport has been written and I hope it will be erased forever, we no longer want racism in this world, and that applies to sports too.”
The game against Bologna…
“They are doing well, but we are ready too and we don’t need to rush things. We are focused on doing well and we will give it our all because we want this victory.”
Was the criticism exaggerated?
“Yes, I think yes. We know that the world of football is a bit like that, it is made up of many ups and downs. We are having a great season and we must continue like this. Some are doing even better, congratulations to them but we want to continue on our path.”
On Leao…
“Rafa must continue to work like he is doing, he is giving his best effort and is helping the team. Then the goal will come, I’m sure of it: he is a great player”
Milan won the first leg against Bologna by two goals to nil, but it was the season opener and the Rossoblu have done very well since. The manager Thiago Motta has been heavily linked with the Rossoneri and tonight is another opportunity for him to impress.
