Bologna now appear more likely to sign FC Basel defender Riccardo Calafiori than AC Milan as the Rossoblu move ahead in the race, a report claims.
As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, Calafiori was not even named on the bench for Basel’s recent win in the Swiss Cup, showing that they are working on the basis that he will soon leave.
Milan have been linked with Calafiori for many weeks but they need to sell Fode Ballo-Toure first. The former AS Roma defender is the ideal replacement for Ballo-Toure but his move to Werder Bremen is taking a long time to secure.
Bologna are speeding up their pursuit of Calafiori and there has been contact in the last few days, meaning they are now more likely than Milan to sign him.
Should he join Bologna and Ballo-Toure’s move still goes through, Milan must look elsewhere for a new left-back to be Theo Hernandez’s backup.
Of course, it is in the headline, Italian defender.
If this means Bartesaghi plays more on the left, then Calafiori can go wherever.
We have Florenzi that can be the LB, until Bartesaghi ready take step up to the first team. Maybe in 2-3 years.
