Atalanta hammered AC Milan’s next opponents Salernitana last night, beating them 4-1 at home after trailing at half-time, and Charles De Ketelaere was in inspired form.
Calciomercato.com recall how De Ketelaere came off the bench last night and registered a goal and an assist as a substitute to seal a match that had in truth started badly for the home side.
The Belgian attacking midfielder is increasingly finding himself to be a central part of Atalanta’s plans under Gian Piero Gasperini after a difficult couple of months due to injury.
Now Milan can hope that he is bought permanently at the end of the season, given it would allow them to make a small capital gain that could be reinvested on other more suitable profiles, given it never really worked out for CDK.
As a reminder, BergamoNews – who claim to have access to Atalanta’s accounts from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023 – revealed the real figures of De Ketelaere’s loan move. The formula is a paid loan costing €3m plus an option to buy set at €22m and a further €2m in bonuses, thus making a total of €27m.
Watched the game and he was really impressive
If he continues on this run of form for the rest of the season (grows in confidence, learns Serie A style and play, I mean really improve) would we consider taking him back to our squad? Or is he already a cut loss regardless of how he continues to grow?
But if we took him back we’d solve a problem and then what would the directors and agents do?
They’re all about creating problems not solving them. Like those council workers who drag out jobs for a long time to keep them.
We won’t solve any problems while Pioli is around because he uses a single striker system.
Now if another coach comes in and has actual use for CDK, there might be a light at the end of that long and dark Belgian tunnel…
Which position? Or is he the solution at second striker when we bring in “Conte the Saviour” and have to sell Leao, Pulisic and Chukwueze?
It will be interesting to see if we cash in or take him back. He has definitely improved and the goals and assists are slowly bringing back his confidence. However, there is still a lot of things he needs to work on. If he continues to improve, it might be worth taking him back, bearing in mind that he still won’t be a finished product and we would have to change our style of play to fit him.
A lot of “ifs” and “to dos” for one player. Let’s move on. We need a proper no. 9, a defensive midfielder and maybe a CB. Eyes on the future, not the past.
Only in the mad bad world of modern football would a club want a loan player to do well so they could sell them.
Pasalic also scored. He played for us about 7 years ago. We’ve signed about 17 midfielders in the interim!
The truth is the management and the coach made a mistake, we let a very good and promising player leave, Pioli is simply incapable of seeing true talent, if he had persisted on using him he would have been better, instead the coach kept using Diaz and enhancing him, knowing pretty well he was going back to Madrid, well another argument says even if Diaz was playing better than him, wouldn’t it have been better to shift Diaz to the right, where clearly he performed well in matches he played on the right, and then use CDK in the middle.
Honestly even if we manage to qualify for the UCL and do very good in the UCL, two options should be considered, either we change our Coach, or if he manages to really improve our game play and consistency this season, and the club wants him to stay, then improvements must be done to the coaching staff, having a new assistant Coach with a different perspective could really help out, u can clearly see that Pioli makes many mistakes, and relies on his son an Murelli a lot, we need to get someone who has a totally different perspective to the assistants Pioli has , and as long as we want to bring CDK back, even if Atalanta want to sign him, it depends on what the player wants , so he can decide to come back if management give him the assurance he will be a fundamental part of the club plans, we have lost very good players recently to the incompetence of Pioli…
Milan can’t take him back if Atalanta decided to buy him considering Furlani/Moncada put the option to buy clause.
If Atalanta didn’t buy him then it would be hard for him to get playing time in Milan as a striker if Giroud and Jovic renew the contract.
Take the money and run it they want to redeem him. Atalanta’s shirt is not as heavy as Milan’s (we probably have the heaviest shirt in Italy tbh). I’ll always wish him good luck in his career and I’m really glad he’s doing better than with us.
