CM: Two full-backs to arrive but Florenzi will remain – Milan’s plan

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are not just expected to sign a new left-back in the near future. The Rossoneri are also monitoring a few right-backs, per a report, and could soon have new-look defensive flanks.

Milan tried to sign a new left-back deputy already in the summer but Fode Ballo-Toure’s late departure made it impossible. Therefore, Stefano Pioli is currently relying on Davide Bartesaghi and Alessandro Florenzi for that role.

According to Calciomercato.com, the primary target for the left-hand side is Real Betis’ Juan Miranda, whose contract will expire in the summer. Milan are also looking at a few right-backs, having scouted Killian Sildillia (Freiburg) and Joe Scally (Monchengladbach).

What does this mean for the current right-backs in the squad? Florenzi has shown his importance as of late, able to play on both flanks, and Milan have no intention of letting him go (and he also has a contract until 2025).

As for Davide Calabria, he’s the captain of the team and remains important for squad rules (Italian quota), just like Florenzi. Pierre Kalulu could leave in the event of a big offer but the feeling is that Pioli will start using him more as a centre-back again.
