CM: Lecce, Salernitana and Como want teenage Milan forward – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

Luka Romero only joined AC Milan during the most recent summer transfer window, but there is already talk of a potential exit just a few months later.

Romero is struggling more than expected to find playing time at Milan after a preseason in which he looked sharp and able to contribute. He has just 85 minutes spread over four Serie A appearances, and 71 minutes played in the Coppa Italia.

According to Calciomercato.com, the current feeling is that the Argentine is not yet ready to establish himself at a club like Milan – as a starter at least – and he therefore needs consistent playing time elsewhere in order to grow.

In the last few hours, Milan have begun pondering the idea of letting Romero go to another club for the second half of the season, with Salernitana open to taking him for six months having asked for information before.

Meanwhile, Lecce’s director Corvino also likes the 19-year-old a lot and considers him a strong player with great room for growth, but his club are aiming to reduce loans to a minimum to focus on players that they own. This is why at the moment there are no ongoing discussions with the Salento club.

Como emerged as an option with Cesc Fabregas their head coach, but it seems almost impossible for Romero to accept ta move down to Serie B. His preference, in case of departure, is a return to Spain.

  1. All he has is the ability to dribble. He’s not especially quick and he’s too small. We have players in the Primavera better than him. He’ll do well in a mediocre, slow league. Players like this are eaten alive in Serie A.
