CM: Milan and Juve to battle it out for defender with different approaches

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan and Juventus have both set their sights on Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly, whose contract with the English side will expire in the summer. However, the two clubs will approach the negotiations in different ways, a report claims.

The serious injuries of Marco Pellegrino and especially Pierre Kalulu have forced Milan to start looking for a centre-back on the market. Kelly was initially a target for the summer, given the contract situation, but a move could now be made in January.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada met Kelly after the game between Bournemouth and Burnley. The Rossoneri are expected to make an attempt in January but the English side would like to keep their captain until the end of the season at least.

As for Juventus, they have opened talks with Kelly’s agency and will instead attempt to lock him down for the summer. Milan and the Bianconeri are battling it out for the defender, in other words, but have two very different approaches in the negotiations.

In the meantime, Stefano Pioli is relying on Fikyo Tomori, Malick Thiaw, Simon Kjaer and Jan-Carlo Simic.
