CM: Milan made late move for Torino forward and player was open – the background

Antonio Sanabria could have been an AC Milan player had things gone different over the summer but he is now looking at a potential renewal with Torino.

Calciomercato.com recall how Sanabria scored 12 goals last season across league and cup, his best return in his career so far, but Torino decided to sign Duvan Zapata who will probably be the starter when he is fit enough.

However, the purchase of the Colombian does not exclude Sanabria from Torino’s future plans because the club are betting strongly on him and soon negotiations over a renewal will accelerate.

Dialogues with the player’s entourage began after the window closed and the idea of both parties is to extend the deadline for another two years, from 2025 to June 2027, while Sanabria wants €2m net per season including bonuses.

In the summer there was a moment when the Paraguayan striker could have left Turin. In the last few days of the window, Milan were looking for a striker and before signing Jovic they explored the idea of signing Sanabria as we reported.

There were some talks with the player’s agent to understand if there was the time available to get the deal done. The player had given an opening but Torino would only have sold him on a permanent basis and to a figure considered too high by Milan.
