Among the players that have not had much playing time to begin the season are Luka Romero and Davide Bartesaghi, and they could be allowed to leave in January.
According to what is being reported by Calciomercato.com, Romero is working well since his arrival from Lazio on a free transfer, while head coach Stefano Pioli and his team-mates like him a lot, but he has yet to make his debut in Serie A.
There is little margin for playing time considering the talent of Christian Pulisic and the one that must blossom in Samuel Chukwueze.
This is why in the next few weeks the Rossoneri will have to decide whether to send the Argentine youngster out on loan in January to play continuously until the end of the season.
Meanwhile, the same source write that Bartesaghi has had a dream start to the season. He signed his first professional contract with the club and also made his debut in Serie A.
January and the winter transfer window are still far away but in the event that Milan sign Juan Miranda – a concrete target – then Bartesaghi could be loaned out too.
Pioli needs to start giving these kids some game time. Perfect opportunity
for young Bartesaghi against Juve. 💪
with all due respect Ned he has been subbed in 3 times this early in the current season at the age of 17 so pioli clearly has given him more time than any player at that age should expect and starting him in a high profile and intense match against juventus would be a risky move that could easily backfire.
Bartesaghi that is.
Kids playing in matches like this. Not a single serious club does that. Not football manager.
You would be the first to insult them when they would make a mistake.
Every game is of utmost importance if Milan is to go far in the Champions league, or Serie A. That’s why these youngsters are not getting playing time. The coach doesn’t lack any trust in them; it’s just the way things are. Even when he starts Okafor, Jovic, Chukwueze, he’s forced to substitute them in the second half when we are not getting results with them.
I said back in the summer that Romero should be loaned – He’s clearly not the finished product and an investment for the future rather than a first team player, and therefore destined to waste away on the bench. Now, a half season training among the stars isn’t bad, certainly not development-stifling, but having had that time with the Milan first team, 6 months playing at a lesser club either in Italy or abroad is much more useful than sittong on the bench anither half season. We have full coverage on the right between Puli, Chuk and Okafor if it came to it.
Bartesaghi should go if he gets first team action somewhere else, assuming Miranda arrives, but finishing out the season with 2nd half sub-ins for Theo/Miranda, while Miranda provides actual rotation to Theo and is a starter when he is out injured or otherwise, isn’t by any means a bad choice for the kid.
I think loaning out romero would make sense if we wait untill late january because chukwueze will be at the afcon 2024 from january 13th potentially to february 11th + some days before and after depending on how far nigeria will reach into the tournament it could be good to have the argentinian as a backup for pulisic in part of that duration of time.
Bartasaghi ok what if Florenzi had an injury but Romero No way and the coach should get leao deputy because Noah Okafor is our striker and the coach should revert to a 4-2-3-1 and a 4-4-2 formation.
Great, finally.
No way to start kids against Juve. Nobody does that. Look, Thiaw is not as young and is more experienced. Did you see what happened to him against Inter, when he didn’t have way more experienced Tomori to guide him and shield him? He was a disaster and practically caused two of Inter’s goals. So, no, we shouldn’t start young kids against the likes of Inter, Juve, and Napoli. No way.
They are nice kids and they deserve the playing time that a loan would provide. They are players for our future but they are still too green to be first team material. As soon as we get a more experienced deputy for Theo, Bartesaghi should be loaned, and Romero can be loaned as soon as possible because on the right side we’re set. Let them develop, solidify, and learn, then they’ll be back in much better condition.
