Jan-Carlo Simic is set for his first senior start for AC Milan tonight and in the background steps are being taken to safeguard his future, a report claims.
According to what is being reported by Calciomercato.com, Stefano Pioli plans to use Simic in instead of Simon Kjaer at the heart of Milan’s defence for tonight’s Coppa Italia game against Cagliari at San Siro.
It would be his first start for the club, but the Rossoneri fans already love him after his goal against Monza in the league coming off the bench. Simic keeps his feet on the ground and continues to work hard in training, waiting for his chance to shine again.
It is no coincidence that Rafael Leão spoke about the defender during an interview with Sky and revealed that he is a boy who listens a lot and wants to work. Simic arrived two years ago from Stuttgart for €200k, and instantly stood out in the Primavera.
However, with such a rise comes the eyes of others. There are German and English clubs interested in trying to sign him for the future but Milan do not want to lose him and will soon open talks over his extending his current contract, expiring in 2025.
First will be his full debut in the cup, an important although not decisive opportunity to take a surprise starring role in the second part of the season.
