CorSport: Milan waiting to see Hernandez’s intentions as Bayern and PSG show interest

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are waiting to see what Theo Hernandez thinks about his future at the club with both Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain expected to make moves for him in the summer, a report claims.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News), the Rossoneri are aware that they must focus on Hernandez and his happiness at the club during the rest of the season.

He is going to be out of contract with Milan in the summer of 2026, meaning interest in him is only going to grow from this point onwards.

Last summer, Bayern and PSG were very interested in the Frenchman but Milan could repel the inetrest, largely thanks to making so much money from the sale of Sandro Tonali.

That interest is expected to return in the coming summer, especially given Bayern could be set to lose Alphonso Davies to Real Madrid.

Milan would like to see Hernandez sign a new contract given he is a crucial member of the team, even more so now that he can also play at centre-back when needed.

They are likely to discuss a contract extension with him in the summer, but his desires will ultimately be the deciding factor.

    1. I doubt they know themselves at this point.
They will most likely consider huge offers for any of them. They set that precedence last summer.

Maybe Newcastle could give us 75m plus Tonali for Leao

The main issue with the teams stagnation since winning the league is that those better players will want to go somewhere they can win the biggest trophies.

Mike we can replace, same with Tomori and even Leao, Theo is irreplaceable imo, there is nobody like him

    2. Moneyball Moncada guarantees it.

We traded a world class midfielder for Chukwueze and Musah (>55m cost combined).

Milan’s history means nothing. They want to capitalize on Milan’s revenue, profit and $$$. Winning is only a means to more $$$. They would gladly break up a winning team, if we had one.

      1. “We traded a world class midfielder for Chukwueze and Musah (>55m cost combined).”

Or we traded an overrated and overpriced midfielder for Rejnders & Pulisic and fixed our RW issue with getting Tonali replaced in the midfield.

        Not a bad deal IMO.

  1. That’s the core of the project. This TH19 thing will send panic waves through the squad should selling him be a consideration…and that leaves MM16 vulnerable as well. We might lose both if this is not carefully managed. I think FT23 would be easy to replace, not the other 3.

    1. “and that leaves MM16 vulnerable as well. ”

Nope. The removal of Growth Decree made it already 100% certain that MM16 will be sold in the summer. If Milan had any desire to keep him, they would have offered him a worthy contract BEFORE the Growth Decree was canceled. They didn’t. They didn’t because they have decided it’s MM16 who will be sold next.

All we can do is hope that MM16 is enough and no one else will be sold.

      1. Honestly keepers have always been the easiest to replace. No shade to Mike and I’d love him to stay but I bet Milan could get 70M plus that’s more than enough to replace him and buy a proper RB. Theo has had a rough first half but his form seems fully back and it’s no coincidence that Milan’s form seems to be on the up too, at least in the league.

        1. True. And I love him too and dream he’d be the number 1 in Milan for another 7 years but with the Growth Decree gone, it simply isn’t possible. There’s a bigger chance of Berlusconi rising from the dead and buying Milan back than MM16 signing a new contract.

But if sacrificing MM16 means we get to keep Theo, then go ahead & do it! Good keepers are everywhere. A LB who can cross, dribble & score magnificent goals are hard to come by. And even harder to get ’em to play for our team.

  2. It’s no wonder that most players with winning titles mostly look at their bank account ! If there are concrete offers from such teams for Theo, there will be concrete offers personally for him for salary ! They know that with him they would get a top and built player in that position, and they would certainly offer him a sum that would be hard to refuse and that we probably wouldn’t be able to keep up with. I think we very likely have to say goodbye to another star on the team to keep the others !

  3. People need to understand these are not fantasy football players but actual humans. I do believe sacking previous directors and selling Tonali had an impact on overall atmosphere and moral. Some players like Leao and Maignan took it to social platforms as well. Selling more of our stars will further impact the moral. Of course it’s different if player itself wants to leave.

I bet we can expect another star will be sold in the summer. Moncada said we are 3-4 players away from being complete and Gerry doesn’t have the money to do it. Last summer he merely re-invested what the players earned for the club.

    1. “Moncada said we are 3-4 players away from being complete and Gerry doesn’t have the money to do it. ”

Gerry could have 1 dollar or 1B dollars in his pockets but that would make zero difference because the owner’s money isn’t Milan’s money. Those days are gone.

So… Milan can buy players with either their own money or by selling players to get more money. Simple. Cardinale’s (lack of) money means nothing here. You people should know that by now. It has been brought up here million times before.

      1. I didn’t mean literally from his own pocket but through different channels. For example, PSG and City do it through massive sponsorship deals.

        1. Edit:
For example, PSG and City do it through massive sponsorship deals, with companies that are in indirect ownership of club’s owners.

          1. I think you just hit the nail on the head there. It is a blatant, massive loophole in this so-called FFP which is supposed to instill a level-playing field for everyone. Fun fact. The President of PSG also happens to be the Chairman of ECA, which is a key stakeholder, in defining FFP with UEFA. How very convenient.

        2. First look at the accounts, Milan have been steadily rising their revenue through sponsorship deals ever since Americans started owning the club. The ppl you roast every day are doing the thing you say they aren’t and it’s improving the club. I’m so grateful Milan are at the point where they can play meaningful games all the way through the season instead of hoping they can scratch out a draw against samp to qualify for the Europa League playoffs. Second We’ll see how those Middle East sponsorship deals work out man city and psg are being investigated for their “sponsorship deals” and if UEFA have any balls both will be sanctioned (otherwise it’s clear UEFA has a bias against Italian teams).

          1. “Fun fact. The President of PSG also happens to be the Chairman of ECA, which is a key stakeholder, in defining FFP with UEFA. How very convenient.”

This. Everyone knows how this goes. Football is a corruption-free sport. 🙂

      2. I very much disagree.

Like any business a new owner has every right to invest in that business. This is usually why people buy businesses, they see something with potential that with investment could be a success.

Football clubs are no different, and the ffp rules allow for this. In fact when someone buys a club and it’s debt etc, they can also include money to operate the business.

FFP also is calculated over a period of years.

So while nobody wants to see recless spending, that would jeopradise the club, there is plenty of flexability to invest in the team upfront and all going well, reap the benefits in the following years.

eg Better to inject 100m at the beginning, solve the major problems rather than 50m per year, every year to keep plugging holes

        1. Those aren’t the rules. Like did you start following Milan yesterday? When Li bought Milan he invested 100M of his own money and in return Milan was band from Europe for two years! My god you ppl have the shortest memories

          1. Like are you like a 13yo girl?

Milan had been making huge losses for years, so therefore we were not in a position to spend without being sanctioned. Thats not the case now

          2. “Like are you like a 13yo girl?”

Such an elegant response. I bet you’re a full grown, extremely sophisticated, well-behaving man. 🙂

I love your response. You get a rational response and what’s the first thing you do? Oh right, the response is up there. Well played. 😀

  4. wrote a few different things then deleted them haha
keep hernandez but sell if we might lose him on a free (not sure what his contract is at the moment) but try and renew first as they are trying to do it seems.
sell leao 150 million or more.

  5. @bb
If you care to read the above you will note I was very considered and polite in my differing opinion to yours.

When someone replies with an ignorant comment such as
“Like did you start following Milan yesterday? ”
I’m inclined to respond in kind
