Bologna take on Genoa at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara tonight, and AC Milan’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada is reportedly in attendance to watch.
As revealed by Gianluca Di Marzio, Moncada is in the stands for a game which features many players who could become protagonists of the mercato in the weeks and months to come given their talent.
The journalist reports that the focus is ‘above all on Joshua Zirkzee’ who has been one of the big surprises of the current Serie A campaign. He has eight goals and two assists in 20 games across all competitions for the Rossoblu.
If you read our site regularly this should not be a surprise given our exclusive a couple of months ago, which stated that Milan are scouting Zirkzee. The Dutchman seems a fit for project at 22 years of age, with Serie A experience, the potential to grow and a reasonable salary.
Di Marzio adds that Lewis Ferguson is another name Moncada likes. He is one of Scotland’s most exciting young midfield prospects, while he has six goal contributions (four goals, two assists) in Serie A this season.
He is disqualified for tonight’s match against Genoa so the chief scout will not cast an eye on him, but we conducted an interview with his agent last year after the Rossoneri were linked with a move by several sources.
It is not just Bologna talents that Milan are keen on, though. Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson has caught Moncada’s eye, another revelation in Serie A given his seven goals in 17 games.
He actually has links to Milan somewhat given that his great-grandfather played for the Diavolo in the 1940s, and the Icelandic forward has spoken of his dream to follow in his footsteps.

Zirkzee is a very interesting talent and one that is proving himself. Even scores against big teams. Bologna beat Inter this season.
Gudmundsson is a quality player
If Ac Milan should have a look at someone from Bologna that is Calafiori. Left footed Italian CB, 21years old 188cm tall. Can play as a LB and LM as well he is quite movable player. Only 13mil at the moment, perfect time to get him. He kind of reminds of Maldini. Zirkzee is good too but his price has already blow up, he is not worth 40mil. Motta from what i saw tonight is not ready for Milan yet either. He has potential tho.
There was an article in the last month or so that made it clear that its only Bayern Munich who can buy him back at 40 mil so their demands for other clubs might exceed that fee as well.
Martin i doubt any one will pay them that much. Maybe if some English club comes for him. Otherwise i would say 25mil is his real price. Btw Salamakers was Bologna best player today lol. Most attacks went thru him. Then the guy i mentioned Calafiori, and then Zirkzee.
Yeah i agree the pricing seems blown up and i would also say in the vicnity of 25 mil would seem more reasonable but again i can also understand bologna if their demands are high as they are actually building a good team that competes in the top of the league so obviously they doesnt want to lose a valuable asset,
I always liked saelemaekers so glad to hear he did well. Yeah remember calafiori when he played in switzerland seems like a promising talent.
The Zirkzee one is such a dumb one, he was available for a fraction of the price in the summer and we showed no interest, now suddenly he’s the Messiah? I think he’d be a good fit but if they are interested it shows what a terrible scouting job they were doing last year…
There is plenty of good talent in Serie A, they are overlooked. Moncada has too much power and doesn’t care how many foreigners he brings in. I want to see Italian boys wear the shirt.
The question is where would Gudmundsson play. He is not a ST, don’t need a rw or lw and don’t need an AM unless we sell those mezzalas we bought and go back to 4231 (idiotic).
So bench it is. 20+M for a bencher. I recon they should scout players that we actually need ,but what do i know. I’m just a magical flying space turtle…
Ferguson seems like a good mid but again an Am thatbwe just don’t fûckign need.
