AC Milan will face Frosinone away from home this evening and following the 2-2 draw against Bologna, the Rossoneri will be looking for a win. Based on the predicted starting XIs, there will be some interesting battles on the pitch.
Milan are seven games unbeaten in the league but failed to make it five wins in a row against Bologna last time out. They missed two penalties and also conceded a 92nd-minute equaliser, which tells you everything you need to know.
Pioli is not expected to make any changes to the starting XI, as per the latest reports, and the usual starters will thus get the chance again. Below, we have picked out five key battles that could decide tonight’s game between Milan and Frosinone.
The battles
Starting at the back from Milan’s perspective, Kaio Jorge will be up against Simon Kjaer and this battle will be very interesting to follow. The Brazilian striker, who has three goals this season, is very lively and certainly much faster than Kjaer. However, the Dane has more experience and might come out on top thanks to his positioning.
On the flank, Frosinone star Matias Soule will be looking to beat Theo Hernandez, which is easier said than done. The Argentine has scored nine goals this season and is certainly the main threat to Milan, but the Frenchman managed to keep him quiet (albeit as a centre-back) in the reverse fixture.
In the centre of the park, Frosinone have a very competent midfielder in Abdou Harroui, who has four goals to his name despite missing a good chunk of games due to injury. He will likely be up against Yacine Adli, with both of them aiming to have a decisive impact in the midfield battle.
Speaking of midfielders and goals, Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be looking to continue his positive form. He could become the first midfielder to score in three consecutive games for Milan since Franck Kessie, but the Argentina youngster Enzo Barrenechea will be eager to shut him down.
Finally, Christian Pulisic will be up against the Milan product Marco Brescianini on the right-hand side. The latter is not a left-back but will be forced to play there due to injuries, so this is something that the American will have to make the most of.
