Davide Calabria continues to run out for every game with the captain’s armband on, but his contract at AC Milan is ticking down in the meantime.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes, Calabria is the captain of Milan and has now been a regular starter for several seasons, essentially since Stefano Pioli arrived as the head coach.
The 27-year-old full-back has a contract which runs until June 2025, which therefore means it will expire at the end of next season and has less than 18 months left to run.
However, there is no great urgency to immediately find an agreement over a renewal. Instead, once the January window has closed the management will tackle contract situations.
One of them is Calabria’s, given that there appears to be no desire to let his deal run out and instead the idea is to keep him for the seasons to come.
The Italian has in many ways realised a dream, given that he came through the youth sector having joined in 2007, making his way up the ranks.
He received his first ever call-up to the senior team during a trip to face Lazio on 25 January 2015, then on 30 May 2015 he made his Serie A debut in a 3–1 away win against Atalanta.
Let that man leave or sell him…
Definitely need an upgrade at this position. Maybe Kalulu could be that guy. Maybe Terraciano. But Calabria is not the guy moving forward.
I think we need to let him go, and move forward. If that means selling him to another team so be it.
We’re probably looking at a renewal and a sale
To get rid of him presumably…
Clowns down here hating on him when he’s been arguably out most reliable fullback this season. Him and Florenzi were the reason we didn’t lose against Bologna last week. Meanwhile theo gets all praise despite his massive drop in quality and form… such fickle kids
The equalizer was nothing to do with the other loser Florenzi, being out of position then?
Calabria wouldn’t get into the first 11 at Inter or Juve, let alone captain the team. Yes he’s played well when our best defenders have been injured but he’s been found out on numerous occasions and, but for the injuries, might have found himself without a place in the team, or the armband.
Please keep your personal remarks to yourself..
sigh.. you keep your personal remarks to yourself…
Calbria over the years is really stable players and he had great games vs some of the best like mbappe kharvita…
To replace him with someone better is gonna cost a lot.
I would much more prefer a high quilty replacement for giroud then spending that money elsewhere.
Not to mention we still need higher lvl defender and midfielder before talking about calabria
