AC Milan’s win against Napoli did not come without some damage as Davide Calabria was forced to withdraw from the game in the first half due to injury.
The only discordant note of last night’s game came in the first half when the Milan captain pulled up clutching the top of his leg, and it immediately became apparent that he was struggling with some muscle discomfort.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports this morning that the issue is in the adductor of the left leg for Calabria, who will be evaluated in the next few hours by the Milan medical staff to understand the extent of his problem.
It is the 34th injury of the season for Milan and the 23rd muscle injury, albeit the first one since January 10th, and with the return to playing twice a week imminent it must be hoped it is not the start of a return to the trend late in 2023.
During his post-match interview, Stefano Pioli was asked for an update on the condition of Calabria as well as Ismael Bennacer.
“Isma I think was just tiredness, at the end of the first half he told me he was tired. But he’s fine, he comes from the Africa Cup of Nations and an injury. Calabria has an adductor problem but we don’t yet know the extent of it, to be evaluated in the next few days,” he said.
Luckily, some good news also comes from the infirmary as Malick Thiaw is ready to return to the field and should be available on Thursday for the Europa League match against Rennes at San Siro.
