AC Milan currently have a number of their young talents out on loan in the hopes of getting them ready to return to the club and play a role in the senior squad in time.
La Gazzetta dello Sport begin a report looking at how each loanee is fairing with Lorenzo Colombo, a 20-year-old striker who was sent on loan to Lecce after a season in Serie B with SPAL. He has three decisive goals so far this season against Napoli, Udinese and Sampdoria, plus one in the Coppa Italia against Cittadella.
Lecce have the option to buy Colombo but Maldini and Massara protected themselves with a buy-back clause, an additional message of confidence in the Primavera striker who could return to stay next summer.
Daniel Maldini scored his first Serie A goal against Spezia last season, and this season he is at the same club on loan. He scored against Como in the Coppa Italia and against his parent club at San Siro with a lovely right-footed curling shot.
Apart from an injury sustained at the start of the season, Daniel hasn’t been doing badly so far with six games played and two goals scored. In 2023 he will have even more playing time, and again it cannot be excluded that he returns to stay next summer.
The last loan in Serie A is that of Mattia Caldara, 28, also at Spezia together with Maldini. He has played 10 games between the cup and Serie A having started two of the last three games. His contract with Milan will expire in 2024, so he will return next summer and then leave for good.
Then there is Marco Nasti, a 19-year-old Primavera striker who is having his first taste of senior football away from Milanello. So far he has only played four games for Cosenza in Serie B, with two starts and no goals. He netted 18 goals for the Primavera last season though so patience is needed.
Marco Brescianini is also at Cosenza but he is a totally different story. The 22 has 13 appearances out of 13, almost all of which were starts, and he scored a goal against Modena.
Finally, Emil Roback is at Nordsjaelland but has only played a couple of games (81 minutes in total) so far in Denmark. He made his debut for Milan’s first team during Milan-Genoa in the Coppa Italia last year.
