GdS: Furlani ‘bored’ by Pioli speculation but remains coy on key issues

The event to mark the release of AC Milan’s new fourth kit last night provided a chance for CEO Giorgio Furlani to answer some questions from journalists regarding the club’s future.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) recalls this morning, Milan presented the fourth shirt – created with Puma in collaboration with Pleasures, a Los Angeles brand – last night during an event in central Milano that was attended by players and staff.

The kit is available in two versions, black and white (officially black and pristine), which will be used for the matches against Napoli and Monza. On Sunday, Mike Maignan will be in white and the players in black and then the weekend after it will flip.

The pattern is clearly inspired by the iconic Duomo, while Stefano Pioli on the other hand is increasingly a symbol of Milan too, because not a week goes by without rumours about his future. Last night’s in was Furlani’s turn to address them,

“Yes, the rumours about the Milan bench in February bore me too. I’ve always said it, Pioli is our coach, the club is with him, Zlatan also repeated it because these rumours are boring and annoying. We are grateful for what he did and we are lucky to have him with us,” he said.

Reading between the lines, Pioli has Milan’s backing for now but any stay beyond the end of the season depends on the decisions from above, which results in the league and in Europe plus plans for the future heavily influence.

On the stadium project, Furlani added: “We have this project in San Donato, we continue on our path. It’s a long process, obviously, but we hope to have a new stadium as soon as possible.”

On the January transfer window: “The players are there, the emergency is over”. And finally, the Joshua Zirkzee: rumours: “He did well against us but he is a player from another team, it’s too early to talk about it”.
