AC Milan were made to work very hard for all three points against Napoli at San Siro, but they managed to get over the line with a 1-0 win.
The decisive moment came in the 25th minute when Milan took the lead with what was their first clear-cut opportunity of the game, as Theo Hernandez buried a lovely through ball from Rafael Leao.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has their ratings from the game, starting with Milan’s overall performance and Stefano Pioli’s management which both earned a score of 6.5 out of 10.
The man of the match was Theo Hernandez who was great at both ends, with the paper giving him a 7.5, while Christian Pulisic struggled to really get into the game and thus was awarded a 5.5.
Mike Maignan and Davide Calabria got a 6, with Simon Kjaer getting half a mark less for making some very rash challenges that could have been more costly. His centre-back partner Matteo Gabbia (7) shone again.
Ismael Bennacer (6) and Yacine Adli (6.5) did a good job in the double pivot as they started a game together for the first time, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek got a 6 too playing further ahead.
Rafael Leao provided the assists and thus got a 6.5 but was a tad wasteful aside from that, but Olivier Giroud didn’t really have much impact and was scored a 5.5.
Alessandro Florenzi came on in the first half for Davide Calabria and scored a 6.5, with Yunus Musah and Jan-Carlo Simic getting a 6 for their contributions off the bench.
