AC Milan secured just one point from their encounter with Lecce last night despite having a 2-0 lead at the interval. In short, it was yet another collapse for the Rossoneri and a few players deserve more blame than others, as highlighted by a report.
It was the Napoli game all over again for Stefano Pioli and his men, impressing during the first half and bagging two goals to show for it. As soon as Lecce got their first goal, however, Milan crumbled and would have walked away with zero points had it not been for a VAR decision.
Today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below) has analysed the player performances, naming Tijjani Reijnders as the MOTM for Milan at 6.5/10. The Dutchman finally got his first goal for the club and kept the Rossoneri’s attack ticking for most of the game.
Mike Maignan got the same rating after making an incredible save in the first half. He should consider himself lucky, however, on the goal that was disallowed. Malick Thiaw also managed to escape the worst criticism at 6, making many interceptions throughout the game.
The likes of Davide Calabria, Fikayo Tomori, Theo Hernandez, Tommaso Pobega, Olivier Giroud and Noah Okafor all could have done better at 5.5. Meanwhile, Rade Krunic, Samuel Chukwueze and Alessandro Florenzi struggled big time and were all rated at 5.
Yunus Musah was the flop of the match at 4.5, making two fatal mistakes that ended up costing Milan the game. Pioli’s decision to put him at right-back aside, the American could have done a lot better and he knows it.
Milan will take on Fiorentina after the break and it remains to be seen which players will be available.
That is not fair for Musah, Pioli should get 4 for his decision… why would you play Musah as RB when you have Florenzi? It doesn’t make sense also our mildfield was invisible… playing with Pobega and Krunic together should be illegal.
