This season, Albert Gudmundsson has become one of Serie A’s standout players. However, with historic links to AC Milan, the Icelandic forward has spoken of his dream to follow his great-grandfather’s footsteps.
This season for Genoa, Albert Gudmundsson has shone for Genoa, and ahead of the clash between Milan and the Grifone in October, some light was shed on the historic relation that the Gudmundsson family harboured with the Rossoneri.
Although he did not score against Milan in October, he impressed and displayed his value to his side, making three key passes. Following this, the 26-year-old has scored a further three times – against Salernitana, Reggiana, and Cagliari – taking his goal record to seven in all competitions.
In an interview with Marca (via MilanNews), Gudmundsson spoke of the links to his great-grandfather and his aspirations to reach a similar level, potentially with the Rossoneri.
“My great-grandfather played at a high level, and of course, I would like to reach those heights.”
“Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of playing in a ‘top’ team to fight for titles and win the Champions League,”
Whilst there are no indications that Milan is after him, if his form continues, there could be the chance that one day he will represent the Rossoneri, just as his illustrious relative once did.
Nope pass, he’s an average striker who might improve slightly.
