AC Milan Women won their Coppa Italia game against Hellas Verona yesterday, putting seven goals past the Serie B side. Grimshaw was the hero and she was very happy afterwards.
Christy Grimshaw was the star of the show yesterday as she scored a hat-trick, with her first goal coming in the very 17th minute thanks to a ball from Chanté Dompig. The rest were scored by Emelyne Laurent (x2), Laura Fusetti, and Rimantė Jonušaitė.
After the game, Christy Grimshaw reflected on her hat trick and being the captain of the game, speaking to MilanTV (via SempreMilan.it).
“I’m very happy for the victory, which is the most important thing after a difficult start to the season. It was important to play well today ahead of Saturday’s match against Como. We are working hard and as the captain, it’s a special day for me. I hope they’re not the last goals of my career but I’m happy with the team’s victory and certainly with my hat-trick,” she stated.
Milan has had a tough start to the season, with two losses against Roma and Juventus, while they barely managed to squeak by Napoli with one goal.
The Rossonere will take on Como Women this Saturday. Kick-off time will be 18:00 CEST. Currently sixth in the standings, they will want will have to win this game in order to return to the top half of the table.
