There was a funny moment during Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s post-match interview on DAZN following the win over Atalanta involving Massimo Ambrosini.
Immediately after the game – in which Ibrahimovic made his first appearance of the season following a long time out due to knee surgery – the Swede spoke to the microphones of DAZN where Ambrosini was in the studio as a pundit.
It is unsurprising that a rather humorous exchange between the pair followed, with the comments relayed by Radio Rossonera.
Ibrahimovic: “Hi Ambro, my friend, how are you? Well?”
Ambrosini: “Very good, thank you. You must read my message that I wrote to you now.”
Ibrahimovic: “I write to you when I feel like writing to you, not when you decide.”
Ambrosini: “I said read, not write… Stay calm.”
Ibrahimovic: “I’ll read it when I’m out of adrenaline. Do I have to read the message? I don’t know if I have Ambro’s number, I think I blocked him. Here is the message: ‘I’m happy for you, you seemed very free in movement, a hug’. Thanks love.”
Ambrosini: “He has always been free of tension, physically free, in the last period he has been much less so. Trying to get serious again, it would be interesting for you to explain how much you have suffered in this period here.
“Maybe one doesn’t realise how much one wants to go back and lend a hand at your age and how much suffering one has to go through. How much satisfaction do you have when you go back on the pitch and see everyone’s affection?”
Ibrahimovic: “If I have to explain the whole story, I’ll be here for hours. But yes, I suffered a lot. Even the last 6 months of last year I was suffering. I wanted to help at all costs, but I couldn’t be on the pitch. If I’m on the pitch, I want to feel good, because I understood in those months that when you’re not feeling well, it’s difficult to help the team.
“I’ve tried every way. I could have brought forward the surgery by 6 months, but I understood that that year was our year to win the Scudetto. I made Pioli a promise: I won’t have the surgery because I want to be close to the team to help in every way, and in the end we won. But I’ve never suffered so much for a trophy like this.”
