AC Milan clinched three very important points against Frosinone last night, asserting their spot in the league standings. It was a game that resulted in quite a few interesting stats and facts, which we will take a look at below.
Following the disappointing 3-1 defeat against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, Milan decided that they wanted to experience that scoreline themselves. Therefore, after goals from Luka Jovic, Christian Pulisic and Fikayo Tomori, they beat Frosinone 3-1. Below are the key stats and facts from the win…
The overall stats
Unlike many games this season, Milan were very clinical in front of goal, finding the back of the net three times with just three shots on target. Furthermore, they did so with an XG of just 0.91, which makes it even more impressive.

Maignan’s assist show
It was a wonderful ball long ball for Pulisic, who also timed his run to perfection. Against a team that likes to put a lot of pressure on Milan in the build-up, Maignan is essential to break the lines. In each of the last three seasons, in fact, the goalkeeper has provided at least one assist.
.@mmseize has provided at least one assist in each of the last three Serie A seasons. Since 2004-05 he is the goalkeeper who has the most assists in the competition (3).

Theo shines at centre-back
Although it was an emergency solution, it certainly didn’t look like it as the Frenchman showed great discipline at the back. He was one of the best Milan players on the field, fully committed to the defensive work while also helping out in the attacking phase more than once.

Jovic’s first for the club
The striker finally got off the mark for Milan, finding the back of the net with a very composed finish. It was his first competitive goal in 189 days, last scoring for Fiorentina back in May. Furthermore, he also became the first Serbian ever to score for the Rossoneri.
Honestly I was more impressed with Theo’s performance as a CB than Jovic’ contributions. I would have picked him as MOTM. Composed, attentive and assertive and still made runs forward.
Imagine if this sort of performance was the norm for him on the Left… WOWZA!
Yeah from LB to CB, Maldini’s heir! Strong performance, Théo MVP in defense and Pulisic in offense.
I think he’s not performing well at LB this season because of the system. With a weak midfield unable to cover he has to stay low and we can’t benefit of his offensive skills. He’s playing in the same role than last season with France, with Mbappé in the role of Leao, and he’s doing great. There’s only a problem at Milan.
There are two really interesting line-ups I would like to see (assuming everyone is fit).
‐——————–Giroud—‐—————
Leao————–Pulisic———Chucky
——–Bennacer——-Ruben———–
Theo—-Tomori—-Thiaw—-Calabria

And

Leao————Reijnders——–Pulisic

Second one is much better
I still believe in Chucky 🙂
No, I mean currently
