After the game between AC Milan and Bologna, Ruben Loftus-Cheek spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on the disappointing draw. The Englishman was so close to becoming the hero, having completed the turnaround late in the game.
Bologna opened the scoring through Jushua Zirkzee in the first half but just before the break, Loftus-Cheek found the equaliser. It was a poacher’s finish from the Englishman, who was at the right place at the right time. Then, in the 83rd minute, he headed in the 2-1 goal.
Speaking to MilanTV after the game (see video below), Loftus-Cheek shared his thoughts on the disappointing draw. He also spoke about the brace, which was his first with the Milan shirt, taking his tally up to five goals for the season.
On the result…
“We are disappointed, having played some good football. They [Bologna] are a good team, they play really well, but I think we need to be better at seeing out games in the second halves. That mentality to see out games after getting in front. We have done it too many times as a team, we have let other teams back into the game. We need to move on from this.”
First Milan brace and first goal at San Siro…
“I was waiting for the first goal at San Siro after scoring away from home a few times. It was magical, the feeling, in front of the fans and then getting another one was amazing. It’s just a shame that we didn’t get the win on top of that.”
On his goalscoring form…
“I think my best tally is ten goals in a season, I was playing a lot closer to the goal, similar to where I’m playing now. It allows me to get into the box and get on the end of crosses, I have just been trying to get into the right position. I’m just disappointed that we didn’t get the win as a team.”
Loftus-Cheek was named the MOTM in our player ratings at 8/10, showing just how important he can be for the Rossoneri. Hopefully, the defenders will do a better job next time out, with Frosinone away from home on the cards.
Just hopefully he keeps up his form…
