A source in France has confirmed that Rennes midfielder Baptiste Santamaria is on AC Milan’s list of midfield targets, although a move seems unlikely currently.
According to a report from L’Equipe, Milan technical director Paolo Maldini believes that Santamaria has the right skill set to complete the midfield department but at the moment any chances of actually getting him remain low.
This is largely due to the fact that Milan are working with a small remaining budget having completed a €32m deal to sign Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge. However, the Rossoneri sent scouts to watch Santamaria on numerous occasions last season and believe he would be keen on the chance to play in the Champions League.
Last season, the 27-year-old made 45 appearances in all competitions for Stade Rennais, and now we must see if Milan choose to go any further than the initial enquiries that they have made to this point.
Go for his 18 years old teammate.
