Mayor Sala confirms he is waiting for Milan to deliver La Maura in next three weeks

Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala has confirmed that he is waiting for news from AC Milan and Inter regarding their plans for the San Siro project.

The new stadium issue continues to attract media attention because of the recent developments, including Milan’s declaration that they wish to explore the idea of abandoning the planned joint project with Inter in order to potentially construct a new home on their own.

Sala spoke about the situation linked to the current San Siro – which faces an uncertain future including possible demolition – and the plans of the two clubs, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.

On San Siro: “Obviously I’m worried, but I’m not one to give up and so I think it’s still a game to be managed.”

On Milan and Inter’s plans: “Today I can’t express any other opinion publicly because I’m waiting for two things. The first is whether the teams, which had signed a memorandum between them for the new stadium near the current Meazza, should at this point signal that they want to abandon that path.

“Then if, as promised, in three weeks Milan presents a project that is more than an idea for La Maura. Until these two things happen, I objectively have nothing else to say.”

La Maura is a private piece of land that belongs to Snaitech which is a positive for Milan because it means the club are dealing with a private company rather than the local government, however the site is in the Parco Agricolo Sud Milano which means there could be a lot of environmental backlash.
