There have been times this season when AC Milan have fielded a starting line-up without a single Italian player present, but the summer could bring about a change in strategy.
As Calciomercato.it report, Sandro Tonali, Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi are the only players who have a prominent role and have represented the Azzurri, which could lead to some reflections this summer.
Marco Sportiello will arrive to become the new deputy to Mike Maignan, while Fabiano Parisi could be targeted as a back-up to Theo Hernandez, as could Tommaso Baldanzi for the attacking department who also plays at Empoli and is valued at €15m.
Samuele Ricci of Torino has never disappeared from the radar of the Rossoneri management and they could offer up Tommaso Pobega to try and reduce the asking price, with Ivan Juric eager to work with him again.
Finally, in attack there are two Italian profiles which Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara like. The first is Nicolo Zaniolo who wants to return to Serie A but there is competition from Juventus, and then there is Mateo Retegui of Tigre. Lorenzo Colombo – on loan at Lecce – must also be given a thought.
Zaniolo and retegui too expensive for italian player. We dont need ricci , we need strong DMF like kessie similarity strength. The other like parisi and baldanzi are good for AC Milan . Sell or loan saladmaker and add italian like orsolini
Ricci would be very good (if we switch to a 3 man mid which I would like). But yes Baldanzi I like a lot and Parisi as backup. Orsolini shouldn’t be too expensive and I still like Zaniolo and he hasn’t had any injuries yet so I’m not as worried about the injuries anymore. He’s got grinta which we could use.
That said I think we’ll end up getting 1 italian maybe… we seem to hate them these days. Got rid of Romagnoli over 500k… and didn’t get Zaccagni 2 years ago when he waited for us and was 10m.. we instead got the legend that is Messias…so no I have no faith we’ll actually become more italian again.
Orsolini over Zaniolo any given day!
Imo different positions. I know zaniolo plays rw too but he’s just not a RW. He’s an AM through and through. So depends on position and if were talking about them for RW then Orsolini 100%
Yep we can sell one of this junior or saladmaker to make room for orsolini , he will be available for 10-15m euro due to one year contract left. One more italian we can get are scamacca , we can get him half price if westham relegated probably 20m euro and that more cheap than retegui, with scamacca as striker depth ,we can get rid lord origi. I would like to see we sign parisi, baldanzi, orsolini, scamacca for total 50-60m euro depend on loan formula or cash
These guys for 50 Would be a coup.
About time
For a team with a project driven by sustainability, supposedly, our scouting network seems to always be late to the party. So does our upper management when it comes to authorizing transfers, this dates prior and relate the current owners. Origi is a perfect example. We have Lazetic and Colombo, none got a look on the first team. We dropped 16 million on a free agent that barely played and has yet to do anything significant on the pitch, yet let other prospects that could have been secured in the same range combining their salary demands and transfer fees. There are teams accross Europe and South America, even in Serie A doing better than us in this regard.
Other teams constantly identify and secure prospects earlier than us at lesser prices, before we make a definitive move. We push when they start being noticed by everyone else who come in and offer higher wages with better transfer fees. Being beat out by Portuguese and Argentinian sides with fractions of our resources reprehensible. Displays how assbackwards these matters are going. Our summer transfer for Charles is also an example, we could have secured him and Lang a summer prior for the same price as one of them, one fails the other works out, we are still in a better place than getting only one of them at a high price. If they needed another season under their belt at home, leave them in Belgium on loan then pay a small development fee.
There is no justification for us being behind at recruiting local, regional and domestic talents. Especially not having a feel for the pulse in other reputable divisions like the Swiss ot Belgian Leagues. We are a global brand and organization, to be weak at developping Italian national and European players is inexcusable.
We have to focus on getting these players while they are in the 4 to 15 million price range. Sign 2 or 3, one pans out and we are good. Still cost less than waiting to sign them for 30 or 40 million. If the likes of Empoli, Atalanta, can do better domestically, internationally, Udinese and Sassuolo also, we have to be able to beat them out and push them away. It makes no sense we make late sizable investments without doing any internal player development on top of that given our so called mantra.
That’s because Maldini has an old Galliani way of thinking. Buy useless free agent players like Origi.
I agree with so much of this but I also can’t help but think that it all really comes down to 2 decisions not working out: CDK and Origi.
They’re linked, too, because we either spend the money on CDK or have more to spend on other players. I’m not as clear on who the AM options were but I think we likely have to concede that there was no-one in an affordable price range that could have an impact in 2022/2023. AM was arguably the area of biggest need.
We also got hamstrung by the ownership change, the money not being released and Maldini and Massara not being signed until late. This is a large part of the reason we lost out on players.
We’ve otherwise moved to secure Thiaw and Vranckx in the precise range you’ve specified. Vranckx has also been a victim of the January disaster as Pioli lost faith in half the squad. Indications are that we will sign him.
The coming summer mercato will be the one. Trim the squad down, either re-sign Leao before the end of the season or sell him, do it quickly and reinvest the money. Target players we actually have a chance at signing because we can afford them and they want to come. Show some faith in the Primavera.
I am not saying CDK is a failure just yet. Signing him just this season is, he couldn’t have been worth more than 18 mill the summer prior. FFP is over a few seasons, not only single ones so they could have spent ahead of new owners. worst cones to worst do the ownership change midway through the season so we could secure our targets we needed.
We will regret pobega
When Zaniolo wanted to come to Acm with cheap price we rejected him
We can’t pay
more italians and more from academy please
Going for Zaniolo at 35m makes no sense when we could have got him for cheaper. SMH
Unless we can get the usual “loan + OPTION to buy”-deal. Then it makes (more) sense. But I’d still pass and get e.g. Orsolini instead.
This is just media bluff..
with colombo flourish i think he not become milan player. Remember raoul bellanova now at inter, missed zacagni and the bench warmer pobega. Pobega more useful than bakayoko. I think pioli will said: hes not ready. Milan have to start to believe with italian players.
Once again, this is only media bluff
Im sure milan will have only take raw talented player from france or belgium coz they head recruitment is Moncada.
