AC Milan Women suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to relegation contenders Pomigliano after having Christy Grimshaw sent off in the first half for two yellow cards.
The Rossonere travelled down to Campania off the back of an incredible 4-3 win over current champions Juventus, but they were not able to follow it up with another win to get into the title race.
Maurizio Ganz’s side did take the lead after just 18 minutes with an own goal from Angela Passeri. Pomigliano soon got back onto level terms though, with Verena Amorim finding the back of the net.
The task then got much harder for Milan when Scottish international Grimshaw was shown a yellow card in the 43rd minute. When protesting the decision, she talked her way into a second yellow card and was sent off.
Milan were left needing to find a winner with 10 players but in the end it was Pomigliano who won with an 89th-minute goal from Debora Novellino.
