AC Milan’s Primavera side claimed three important points against Lecce on Sunday morning, putting pressure on Inter. The latter played in the afternoon and only managed a draw, meaning the title race remains tight.
Ignazio Abate, the head coach of the Milan Primavera, celebrated his birthday in the best way possible with a strong win. It was a win that also put pressure on Inter, who faced Hellas Verona later in the afternoon. The pressure seemingly got to them, as the Nerazzurri only managed a draw.
After Milan’s defeat to Empoli last week, which saw Inter create a three-point gap, the distance is now just one point. The Rossoneri (23 points) and the Nerazzurri (24) are still neck and neck in the title race, therefore, and it will most likely be a battle until the end of the season.
Abate and his boys have also done really well in the UEFA Youth League, sitting at the top of their group with nine points. Inter, meanwhile, have claimed just three points in the competition. How far they will go will certainly affect the race in the league.
Now that the first team is struggling, it’s nice for the Milan fans to know that the Primavera are doing very well. Abate deserves a lot of praise for his management and he could be a future manager of the first team.
Ignacio Abate might fit to replace Stefano Pioli, in the future. Maybe faster, if Senior Team consistency doesn’t improve.
