Milan mayor Beppe Sala has been on a real media campaign in the last few days, speaking about the future of San Siro and the desire of AC Milan as well as Inter. To the surprise of no one, there has been some foul play involved.
Sala is eager to convince Milan and Inter, or at least one of the teams, to remain at San Siro and is now disputing the historic constraint on the stadium. The Rossoneri, however, are focused on their project in San Donato.
Speaking to the council members, as cited by Calcio e Finanza, Sala shared his thoughts on the San Siro stadium. Above all, however, he slammed Milan’s stadium in what looked like a desperate attempt to get that shut down.
“I had a recent check done and when there is a football match, the Milan council deploys 120 policemen. San Donato, today, has 22 agents and three officers. The mayor of San Donato, with whom I had a very frank dialogue, tells me that AC Milan employ stewards but I don’t think they can manage the traffic.
“Furthermore, ATM deploys 100 additional operators in Milan for the matches, and AMSA has an additional service with over 20 operators. I spoke with the former mayor of San Donato to try to understand the problems. The parking issue was discussed, the former mayor underlined how the water table is high where the stadium would be built and I don’t think it would be possible to dig much to make a car park under the stadium.
“Over 3,600 parking spaces are planned in the area. The metro is 1.5 km away, how will you get to the stadium? And then a topic that also concerns us, in 2020 Autostrade per l’Italia criticized the project for the 18,000-seat building (Sportlifecity) because the junctions were not adequate but above all the construction of new junctions had not been authorized in any way.
“How can one think of building a 70,000-seat stadium in the area? Also in 2020, a manager of the Milan council considered the traffic studies in the area to be inadequate. Today, in light of the construction of a 70,000-seat stadium, the inconveniences and consequences must be multiplied by four.
“What I want to reiterate is that in my role as mayor of Milan, we won’t want to hinder the stadium. There is no logic of opposition because it’s not within the jurisdiction of Milan but a logic must be applied to the project,” he stated.
Interestingly, Sala, who has no jurisdiction in San Donati, has become an expert on a very complex topic. Take the parking issues, for example: Milan intend to build the stadium on a podium which would make it possible to have parking spaces underneath the stadium.
Sala knows more about San Donato than his own stadium 😂😂😂 what a tool
He is a clown that wants to gain his own money 🤡🤡
Sala is in panic mode by now.
In regard of stewards and cops maybe its possible to do this, in denmark we have something called the civil defense and i can see italy has something like it as well from the looks of it called Protezione civile. Here in demark they are often used to manage traffic at large scale sports events/concerts etc with a heavy load on the traffic junctions they navigates the traffic, maybe that could be an option here as well. There is also always volunteers who can act as stewards so it should be an option in milano as well.
It makes sense that Sala is pushing for a stadium built by both clubs instead or on top of San Siro. City makes huge amounts of money from the stadium. maintaining it requires a lot of people that are all employed by the city. Then there is huge influx of people that spend money around the city when games are played. Milan benefits from it all. There is also bunch of companies, supervisory boards, other politicians, syndicates etc that Sala has promised commissions and bribes, on top of what he was hoping to carve out for himself personally. So there are a lot of people, some of which are not very nice that are disappointed in Sala and his inability to close the deal.
But that is ultimately his problem, and Milan should stay as far away from Sala and likes of him as they possibly can. Of course they can’t avoid them completely, but minimizing exposure to those kind of people is the best approach.
San siro cant be demolished as the second ring has reached or is about to reach cultural heritage status and even if it could it would be a huge issue as both milan and inter would still need a place to play every week so even if it was allowed it wouldnt be a feasible solution.
Sala just want the clubs to pay up and renovate the staidum and keep paying rent to the municipality which isnt in the interest of either clubs.
“How can one think of building a 70,000-seat stadium in the area? ”
that’s why there is a profession as an engineer. they can build can any of kind stadium according to what they want to build even in places that are difficult to build. You Sala, just remain as a politician, don’t need to get involved or even intefered in engineer matters.
Where was he all these 3 wasted years when red tape and Italian bureaucracy which is premised on the basis of corrupt and old politicians like himself who will obstruct progress and development for their own selfish paycheck! Now, suddenly you have become the mouthpiece of Dan Donato mayor! I understand the fire is already burning under your roof 😂😂😂😂😂
What a mess this project has become.
New designs, new locations, delays etc etc
There is 1 solution to satisfy everyone, the one solution that was always the right one.
Sell the San Siro to Milan & Inter, let them put their money together to redevelop what is one of the greatest, most iconic stadiums in the world!!
Even if it costs more than building a new one, it will be worth it.
Not really because as you already said it would cost more and to add to that we would also earn less as it would be a shared project so it wouldnt really make any sense from a financial perspective which is the reason to begin with that we want to build a new stadium.
San siro is probably him and his associates embezzlement pipeline
Thats true, same can be said of Gerry also.
He happens to have a background in developing stadia. My guess is he took over Milan in order to win the stadium project and make a fortune out of it’s construction.
Then sell Milan with stadium to the highest bidder
Demolishing San Siro is in nobody’s interest and I don’t believe for 1 second it’s redevelopment will cost more than a new stadium
This guy it a turd. San Siro is done, he’s done. Milan needs to get away from Sala and the city council. They made their bed now it’s time to sleep in it.
Reap what you sow! This thing is going ahead full steam. SOund like he’ll end up with his thumb up his @** when all is said and done. Let’s see him get re-elected then 🙂
Let Mr Sala talk. he is giving analysis service for free, assuming what he said is right. If not, then San donato can sue him for spreading hoax.
If Noth Milan and Inter manage to bulld their own stadiums, as they’re planing, it’ll be a monumental. achievement!
