The Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala would like to set up a no traffic zone around San Siro when matches are being played or concerts are happening at the stadium, a report claims.
As has been reported by La Repubblica (via Milan News), the mayor is making plans to stem the regular build-up of traffic in the San Siro area on matchdays.
He wants to set up a ZTL (Zona Traffico Limatato or Limited Traffic Zone) around the stadium for matches and concerts so that whilst an event is taking place, the area is only accessible to those who are residents of the area.
It is a tactic used to reduce traffic in areas of the city and to discourage illegal and irresponsible parking of vehicles by event attendees.
Both Milan and Inter would rather see more progress towards the creation of the new San Siro before considering traffic measures.
