AC Milan made the decision during the summer window to send a number of their young talents out on loan in order to get more playing time and accelerate their development.
La Gazzetta dello Sport talks about Daniel Maldini and Lorenzo Colombo who are currently at Spezia and Lecce respectively, the former on a dry loan and the latter on a loan with option to buy but a buy-back in Milan’s favour.
Milan are watching them develop and impress in Serie A with the aim of welcoming them back as more ready players. Those with good memories will remember how the Rossoneri won away against Sparta Praha with the playmaker as Maldini and the centre-forward Colombo in 2020-21. A future project that today matures far from Milanello, which if anything shows the faith the management have.
Daniel Maldini’s first ever Serie A goal couldn’t have been more special, as it was a lovely curling right-footed shot to draw Spezia level not just in any game, but at San Siro against his parent club under the eyes of his father Paolo, who will have a big say in the future of his son.
Colombo also seems to earn Lecce points when he scores, having netted a goal against Napoli earlier in the season, and also netted the opener in the 1-1 draw against Udinese. The Milan management are thinking about how their attack will look after Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud are gone, while Marko Lazetic is also growing with the Primavera and made his league debut in midweek against Cremonese.
In terms of the other players out on loan, Marco Brescianini and Marco Nasti are both at Cosenza. The first is a staple of their midfield and dreams of a path similar to that of Tommaso Pobega, but Nasti is struggling to break through even if he scored: 18 goals in 29 games for the Primavera last season.
Emil Roback is at Nordsjaelland but isn’t playing much, while Antonio Mionic is at Alessandria and Gabriele Bellodi is with Olbia, and both are playing and all the aforementioned have dreams of making it in a Milan that trusts youth more now than they perhaps ever have.
