MN: De Ketelaere inspires Atalanta again – €23m sale moves closer for Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Charles De Ketelaere was the star of the show again for Atalanta last night in their 3-1 Coppa Italia last 16 victory against Sassuolo, and the feeling is that AC Milan are set to cash in.

With his brace and the assist in the Coppa Italia last night against Sassuolo, De Ketelaere reached six goals and five assists this season in all competitions (Serie A, Europa League and the cup) for Atalanta.

Therefore, MilanNews reports, his permanent acquisition from Milan is getting closer and closer, set at €23m. La Dea are more and more convinced of the Belgian’s qualities and the ability to show them under Gian Piero Gasperini.

The Belgian player spoke to DAZN about his season a couple of weeks ago, suggesting that he feels like he is a better fit at Atalanta after a difficult first season at Milan where he failed to score a goal and got just one assist.

BergamoNews recently revealed the real figures of De Ketelaere’s move: a paid loan costing €3m plus an option to buy set at €22m and a further €2m in bonuses, thus making a total of €27m. If he keeps going with this form, the Rossoneri will almost certainly cash in.

  1. Milan should try it’s best to retrieve him…..in the long run, having him would be better than the money they want to collect, hopefully Pioli will be gone, and CDK will be fully unleashed.

  2. I just don’t understand, for a company that prides itself on shrewdness, leaving CDK to leave was a mistake, Milan needs to bring him back, he is strong, big , intelligent and very direct,he would be very useful in that team,Pioli is a “PONCE”.
    Yesterday CDK was amazing…

    1. Agreed, he is performing very well in a new team on top of that. They dropped the ball, said it last year they had to play him as a forward, saying the same this year.

  3. Only in the mad bad world of modern football does a team hope that a loanee does well so they can sell him….

And the media reports on it as if it’s totally normal.

Why become a journalist if you don’t question anything?

  4. Even if Milan hierarchy has decided to cash in on CDK, there should be a buy back clause on him, the reason is that if he is finally sold to Atalanta anytime they meet with AC Milan in any tournament, CDK will be a constant threat to the team.
Please let the Milan hierarchy beware of losing that young talent to the Atalanta team.

      1. CdK has 6 goals and 5 assists in 1200 minutes in all competitions where Leao has 5 goals and 5 assists in 1500 minutes in all competitions. CdK also has 11 goal contributions in 21 games played.

        Go figure kid.

        1. Only idiots here are trying to justify their hate for this player to try to validate their idiotic comments on him for the last few months. He has been exceptional

  5. He still needs to grow in confidence, he glides like kaka, need to work more on his physicality and composure. Bright future ahead of him. Look at Paqueta now, took him several years to grow

  6. Glad he’s showing good signs in his new team. He just didn’t fit with us, plain and simple. Let’s hope he can turn his career back on track. But imo I hope Atalanta take up the option

  7. IMO, I question the patient attitude shown to players who play crap steadily left to gobble up humongous wages, while some players are quickly shown the exit door . The second lot have shown that they still have the talent initially scouted in them.
It was never the player but the coach! The same way our injuries have piled up and the media are emphasizing the fact that the athletic trainer has been working with the coach for over a decade, but not the fact that he is proving incapable of adjusting his regimen or evolving at the job, he is quite inflexible.
I wish him the best, irrespective of which club he plays for. No player deserves a coach who cannot recognize or develop your talent.

  8. It kind of shows that maybe, maybe judging a young player because of his first season with his new club, in a new league,… is often misguided.
It’s kind of ironic, because one of the reasons the we ditched him is the switching to a 4-3-3. Now it appears that a 4-2-3-1 is more suitable for us, all of a sudden we seem to once again need an offensive midfielder (Romero has yet to convince IMO).
