There were a couple of bits of good news for head coach Stefano Pioli during today’s training session at Milanello as two players trained with the squad, a report claims.
According to MilanNews, the team had training this morning and there were a couple of positive notes: both Matteo Gabbia and Yunus Musah did the entirety of the session with the rest of their team-mates.
Both the centre-back and the central midfielder will therefore both be fully available for the away match on Sunday at 12:30 CET against Empoli at the Stadio Carlo Castellani, a game in which Milan will look to make it three wins in a row in league and cup.
The Italian defender returned to the Rossoneri early from his loan at Villarreal, while the American midfielder has recovered from the muscle problem that has kept him out in recent weeks.
What initially started as some discomfort following the 2-1 win away against Newcastle ended up preventing him from taking the field against Monza, Salernitana, Sassuolo and Cagliari.
Meanwhile, the report also mentions that Noah Okafor did individual work on the field as he gears up to follow Musah by returning to training with the squad.
Pioli recovers a vital resource for the midfield given that he will be without Tommaso Pobega for several months and Ismael Bennacer is involved in the African Cup of Nations with Algeria, while Rade Krunic could depart soon.
We are in third with half the team missing. Once we start recovering players we’ll be just fine. With Pioli. until the summer.
We need to consider replacing the fitness trainer or whoever. I think Pioli is fine in my book, but something has to change. It’s just good to see Musah training again, and of course Gabbia returning will give us more certainty in defense.
