AC Milan’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada answered a number of questions related to the business that the club might do during the January transfer window.
Milan have already been fairly active during the winter mercato, bringing Matteo Gabbia back from his loan spell at Villarreal and signing Filippo Terracciano from Hellas Verona while selling Rade Krunic to Fenerbahce.
However, there are a lot of suggestions that the business is not done for the directors, with rumours doing the rounds regarding a potential centre-back signing and even additions in other areas.
Head coach Stefano Pioli seemed to confirm that a new central defender is being worked on during his pre-match press conference yesterday.
He also revealed a desire to see the midfield bolstered too after Krunic’s exit plus Ismael Bennacer and Tommaso Pobega’s unavailability.
Moncada spoke to Sky before kick-off in Milan’s game against Udinese at the Stadio Friuli, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
How are the team looking?
“We worked a lot, the coach works a lot with the staff and we are focused on the matches. Now there is a good spirit. We are always together, we win and lose together, we want to develop the team and the group.”
What will you do in the transfer window?
“We have the same line as the coach. We look at the market, we are on the same line as him. We want to find safe players, but we have to be calm, take a good look at the profiles and talk to the clubs.”
Are Lenglet, Kiwior or Brassier options?
“We need to understand the situations of the clubs, not everyone is always available… There are names who haven’t come out and others who have come out. We have to evaluate the situations of the clubs carefully before doing something.”
Will Jovic renew?
“We’ll talk later, we want Luka who works well and who scores. Then we’ll talk calmly.”
